Un laconico messaggio sul loro sito ufficiale manda uno scossone nel mondo della musica mondiale: i R.E.M. si sciolgono.

Dopo 31 anni assieme, un solo cambio di formazione (il batterista Bill Berry), 15 dischi ufficiali, 80 milioni di copie vendute ci lascia la band che per prima segno' un ponte fra mondo underground e mondo mainstream.

Dal primo singolo su IRS, Radio Free Europe, il mondo musicale e' cambiato. Anche grazie a loro. Sara' banale ma ci mancano gia'.
