Secondo disco in un anno per gli americani King Buffalo che dopo l'acclamato (non dal sottoscritto) The Burden Of Restlessness tornano a distanza di qualche mese con "Acheron", registrato dal vivo nelle Howe Caverns dello stato di New York. Se nel precedente la band mostrava una tendenza al prog-metal tooliano con "Acheron" tornano ad un heavy psych / stoner suonato più nelle loro corde. I momenti "progressive" ci sono sempre, sopratutto nella vocalità gentile ed eterea (ma per fortuna meno Maynard-style) e in alcuni crescendo epici, ma c'è una maggiore linearità rock - psichedelica come fu nel bellissimo "Longing To Be The Mountain".

King Buffalo non sono dei fuori classe ma quando azzeccano la formula sanno regalare attimi di autentico godimento. Hanno promesso di essere prolifici e pubblicare album su album: rimaniamo quindi con il radar sintonizzato sulle loro frequenze.
